Kieran Stiles, our artist in residence at on form 22, will be exhibiting his paintings, drawings and film from this years exhibition. Exhibition dates 30th September – 20th October. Open Fri – Sun 11-5pm (No booking necessary) and also by appointment. About  Kieran’s paintings begin outside, often in the landscapes of Cornwall, where he originally trained studying Fine Art at Falmouth. Explore ways of creating the effect of shimmering light back-lit through woodlands, using tiny particles of printed on oil paint. We will be working in oil on board from direct observation at Asthall Manor and reference photographs. Explore ways of describing peripheral vision by overlapping washes of acrylic on canvas to create an almost completely abstract start point.  Once this non-pictorial part of the painting is dry, the focal point of tree forms can be introduced. We will be working mainly from direct observation in the gardens of Asthall Manor.
