Geology Walk & Talk
Geology Tour led by Philip Powell and Nina Morgan, co-authors of The Geology of Oxford Gravestones. Philip and Nina will take a closer look at the diverse stones used in the sculptures at on form. Kieran Stiles Art Workshop – Sketchbook Studies
Sketchbook Studies Working outside in a sketchbook is like a visual diary and a great way of capturing a brief moment. Learn how to mix together a collection of different materials from watercolour, graphite, and wax to gouache, oil bar and pens in an immediate and energized way using sponges, rags and palette knifes. Peter Cowdrey, who led walks around the Asthall grounds in 2018 and during our birdsong weekend in 2019, will be back with more insight into the secret meanings and musicality of birdsong. Join the dawn chorus walk on 3rd July at 4 am. Kieran Stiles Art Exhibition – Ballroom, Asthall Manor
Kieran Stiles, our artist in residence at on form 22, will be exhibiting his paintings, drawings and film from this years exhibition. Exhibition dates 30th September – 20th October. Open Fri – Sun 11-5pm (No booking necessary) and also by appointment. About Kieran’s paintings begin outside, often in the landscapes of Cornwall, where he originally trained studying Fine Art at Falmouth. Kieran Stiles Art Workshop – Shimmering Light
Explore ways of creating the effect of shimmering light back-lit through woodlands, using tiny particles of printed on oil paint. We will be working in oil on board from direct observation at Asthall Manor and reference photographs.
