At the moment, Asthall Manor is only open for special events, which you will find on our  What’s On page 

It’s not easy, but not impossible, to get to us without a car. You can explore your options on Google maps or  Rome2Rio, or see our suggestions below. 

By Bus 

The bus stop closest to us is called the Farmer’s Dog, and is served by the hourly Stagecoach 234 bus . This stop is not on the timetable, but you should allow about 2 minutes after the White Hart stop on the way from Witney or 5 minutes after the Oxford Layby stop on the way from Burford.  These links show when the next bus is coming: Burford – Witney / Witney – Burford 

Be careful: the 233 is shown on the same timetables, but does not go to Asthall.  

The 210 community bus also goes from Witney to the Farmer’s Dog once at 7:15am and then from the Farmers Dog to Witney twice in the late afternoon. You can find the timetable here. 

It is about a 15 minute walk down a steep hill from the bus stop to the Manor. For small events, we may be able to pick you up from the bus stop. 

By Rail 

The closest rail station to Asthall is Hanborough. It is on the GWR route between London and Worcester.  You can book a taxi (see below) or catch the Stagecoach S7 bus to Witney, and then catch the 234 to the Farmers’ Dog. 

The next closest station is Charlbury.  There is no bus service. See taxi numbers below. 

Oxford Station and Cheltenham Spa are also convenient. Take the S1 or X52 bus from Oxford to Witney or the X52 from Cheltenham to Burford. Then take the 234 from either village. Google maps will often suggest taking the OX4 bus but this service is almost never running so do not plan to use it.

By Car 

Please car share where possible.

Do not use the postcode, as that will take you to the pub.

When you are here, please park considerately in our cowshed field or, if it’s wet, in the tree-lined avenue.

Electric cars: there is 24-hour fast charging a few miles away, here. 

Disabled visitors can park on the gravel in front of the house, or be dropped off there if you have a driver. 

Taxis 

Both from Hanborough and from Charlbury Stations, we have had a few instances of guests being taken to Estelle Manor instead of Asthall Manor. So do be sure to give the What3words location: blocking.shades.instructs  

What3Words is better than the postcode, because the whole village shares the same postcode. 

You can sometimes get an Uber, but Uber is quite new around here and not always available.

Things to note onsite: 

We do not have a cafe, but there is a lovely pub 2 mins walk from the Manor.

There are several loos onsite, but we only have an accessible toilet and not a fully disabled toilet.

Some of the grounds are uneven and there are sloping pathways and steps, not all of the garden would be suitable for the less abled, but definitely some!
