Seed and Stone
7th February - 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Join us in the beautiful 12th century St Nicholas Church for a seed swap with a difference!
Our resident food grower, Tim Mitchell, from Asthall Wild, will talk you through the seed swap, while local historian and free spirit Steve Tomlin will show you how to find the ancient protective symbols – apotropaics – on the walls of the Church.
Steve will give an illustrated talk on apotropaics at 12 noon.
And there will be soup!
Bring seed to swap.
Take seed for free, if you have none to swap.
Enjoy some hot soup.
Seek out and learn about the apotropaics (ancient protective symbols) that hide in plain sight on the walls of many of our churches, not least our very own in Asthall!
Learn all about the ancient art of seed saving.
Have a go at the fun and strangely satisfying process of saving seed – thresh, winnow, sieve and sort.
Kids are great at it!
No need to book, just turn up and we will see you there!
